Connect and test a Scanner

If you have not already ensured all installation prerequisites are met, do this first.

Once those are met and identrix is installed you can connect to a scanner.

Step 1: Plugin the Scanner

Plug in the scanner to a free USB port on your computer.

Step 2: Check if the Scanner is Recognized

Run the following command:

identrix devices -list

The output will show if the scanner is recognized, and if so which device it is connected to (e.g., COM4 or /dev/ttyUSB0) and the product name of the scanner.

Step 3: Check if the NFC Smartcard Reader is Recognized

Run the following command:

identrix nfc -list

The output will show if the NFC Smartcard Reader is recognized, and if so which device it is connected to and the product name of the NFC Smartcard Reader.

Step 4: Ensure the Scanner is Recognized

If either of the above commands show that the scanner is somehow not recognized, you may need to update your system to ensure it is recognized. Please refer to the installation instructions (and prerequisites) for your operating system for further guidance on how to do this.
